How can these beliefs influence my work as a composer? How can I convey as an artist this interchange of the value of music and the value of silence? How can these new values be represented on the musical score?<\/span><\/span><\/p><p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Still life is an art that represents inanimate objects; an art already present in the Egyptian Tomb of Menna in the fifteenth century BC, or in a mural from Pompeii in the first century AD. The Italian Jacopo de Barbari (c. 1460\/70\u20131516) is considered the first known painter to create still life in 1504, a painting titled <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>Still Life with Partridge and Gauntlets<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. But it was in the Netherlands during the 1600s where the term \u201cstill life\u201d was adopted from the Dutch word <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>stilleven<\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">. In the last decades, modern painters such as Michae\u0308l Borremans, Fernando Botero, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Alex Katz, Yayoi Kusama, Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol expanded this genre, proving it to be still very alive. Still life art often includes symbolism through the depicted objects. It tells a story without uttering a word; the artistry of communicating a compelling story within the frame. Each carefully selected object becomes a silent storyteller, weaving a tale that captivates the viewer. A decaying flower might symbolize the transient nature of life, while a skull might mean mortality.
